Go live. Stay live. Anywhere.
Try it: cut a connection
A preview of a live stream going out over four connections, three SIMs and Wi-Fi, to Twitch, YouTube, Kick and TikTok. Cut connections to see what viewers get: while one is left the stream carries on; when all are cut, Studio shows Be right back and returns to Live by itself once a connection is back. Timings are shortened.

Technical detailsEach part in full, the 100 GB and the preview
- The Unit
- A transmitter/encoder: the box that takes your camera and sends it out live. Niña and Pinta have four mobile connections inside and a 100 GB bonding allowance in the price; Admiral carries up to eight and is quoted as a project. Niña, our smallest Unit, clips on your belt, plugs into your camera and sends it live, with four mobile connections built in. Buy it once; your Studio plan carries on.
- 4 mobile connections in one box.
- Niña and Pinta hold four SIMs themselves; Admiral takes up to eight. Nothing extra to buy, nothing extra to carry.
- Multi-network SIMs (4G/5G)
- 4G/5G SIMs for your Unit or other streaming hardware — they do not go in a phone. Your SIM allowance is priced by zone, not from a single worldwide rate, and it works in every country in its zone.More on Lumbus SIMs
- Lumbus Connect (multi-link bonding)
- Multi-network SIMs get you online. Lumbus Connect combines two or more connections into one reliable stream. On Pinta and Admiral, one connection streams without Lumbus Connect; two or more go through it. Niña streams through Lumbus Connect on every stream, one connection or ten — the starter in the box is in use from your first stream.
- The 100 GB in the box
- Every Niña and Pinta includes a 100 GB starter bonding allowance for Lumbus Connect, valid for three months — enough to set up, test and run your first bonded streams. Lumbus Connect is used when combining two or more connections, and on Niña for every stream. The SIM allowance is sold separately.
- What counts as a connection
- A Lumbus SIM (4G/5G), your own SIM (subject to network and device compatibility), Ethernet, Wi-Fi or Starlink.
- Lumbus Studio
- Your production room in the cloud: a private studio machine that takes your stream over SRT, SRTLA or RTMP — from a Unit, another transmitter/encoder, OBS or a phone app — puts up Be right back from your own signal, adds your scenes and overlays and sends it to every platform at once, run from your phone.
- 0 subscriptions you have to take.
- The Unit you buy works on its own. Start with Studio on the setup you already use. Add the Unit when you are ready. Neither one needs the other.
- About the preview
- The demo above is an illustration: four connections, four platforms and a street clip. Studio waits for your signal to hold for a few seconds before it returns to Live; the preview shortens every wait. Nothing in it is a measurement.

More on Lumbus Studio- 01Stay live.Signal drops? Viewers see “Be right back”, and Live comes back by itself.
- 02Stream to every platform.Twitch, Kick, YouTube, TikTok and more, all at once, from one stream.
- 03Run it from your phone.Change what viewers see with one thumb, in a browser or the app.
- 04Your machine, near you.Your studio’s own computer online, in the part of the world you pick. Move it when you travel.
Technical detailsHow each of the four works, in full
- Stay live.
- The studio watches your feed once a second. Weak signal puts your Low bitrate scene up; a lost signal puts Be right back up; Live comes back on its own once the link has held — with a margin, so it never flaps. Viewers see a designed scene, never a frozen frame.
- Stream to every platform.
- One contribution feed in; Twitch, Kick, YouTube, TikTok, Facebook, X, LinkedIn and custom RTMP out — 5 at once on Studio, 20 on Studio Pro. A platform that drops or rejects a key is retried on its own; the others never notice.
- Run it from your phone.
- The dashboard is laid out for one thumb on a street at night: scenes, Force BRB, Fix ingest, destinations on and off, recording, clips and End stream. The Lumbus Live app for iPhone and Android carries the same studio and every connection, with alerts as pushes even in the background.
- Your machine, near you.
- A private studio machine in the region you pick, so the hop from your transmitter/encoder is short. It sleeps on your schedule and wakes before you start, and it moves region when you travel. Your scenes and destinations come with it.

Build your setupQuestions
Can I buy the hardware without a subscription?
Yes. Niña and Pinta are one-time purchases. SIMs, Lumbus Connect, Studio and storage are optional services you can add later or never.
Can I lock in the founding rate before the first Units ship?
Yes. A fully refundable $50 deposit gets you 5% off everything. It comes off your first order, and you get it back in full if you change your mind.
Technical detailsThe full answer, in detail
Yes. A fully refundable $50 deposit (or the same 50 in pounds or euros) locks in the founding rate: 5% off everything — Niña, Pinta, every SIM allowance, every Lumbus Connect pack, Studio and its add-ons (rounded down to a price ending in 9). It comes off your first order, and it goes back to your card in full if you change your mind.
What does Studio do when my signal drops?
It shows viewers a “Be right back” screen instead of a frozen picture, and switches back to Live by itself when your signal returns. Every platform stays connected the whole time.
Technical detailsThe full answer, in detail
It watches your feed once a second. Weak for a few seconds and you get your Low bitrate scene; gone, and you get Be right back. A frozen or black picture arriving at a healthy bitrate is seen too — shown as a word, and sent to Be right back if you turn that rule on. Live comes back by itself once the signal has held for a few seconds — with a margin, so it never flaps. Viewers see a designed scene, not a frozen frame, and every platform stays connected the whole time.
Is there an app?
Yes. The free Lumbus Live app for iPhone and Android runs your stream from your phone and alerts you when something needs you. Same login as the web.
Technical detailsThe full answer, in detail
Yes. The Lumbus Live app for iPhone and Android carries your studio and your dashboard: scenes and Force BRB, go live and end stream, record and clip, destinations on or off, every connection and what is left of your SIM allowance (with a pause button and where the data went), alerts as pushes even with the app in the background, your trip and the support line. Same login as the web, free with every plan; plans and add-ons are bought on the web. The store links are on the app page.
Can I put a Lumbus SIM in my phone?
No. Lumbus SIMs are made for streaming hardware — they go in a Unit or another transmitter/encoder, not in a phone. If you stream from a phone today, keep the data plan you already pay for and add Lumbus Studio; Lumbus SIMs come later, with the Unit.
More questions (29)
Do I need Lumbus Connect?
On Pinta and Admiral, only when you use two or more connections at the same time. Niña always streams through it, and 100 GB of it comes in the box.
Technical detailsThe full answer, in detail
On Pinta and Admiral, only when you combine two or more connections at the same time: a single SIM, Ethernet, Wi-Fi or Starlink connection streams without it. Niña streams through Lumbus Connect on every stream, one connection or ten — the starter in the box is in use from your first stream.
Is the included 100 GB a SIM allowance?
No. It is 100 GB of Lumbus Connect, to get you started. A SIM allowance is bought separately.
Technical detailsThe full answer, in detail
No. It is a Lumbus Connect bonding allowance, used when you combine several connections. A SIM allowance is bought separately and priced by zone.
What is included with Niña and Pinta?
The Unit with its four mobile modems built in, the Lumbus belt pack, initial setup, your dashboard and 100 GB of Lumbus Connect to get you started. SIMs and Studio are optional.
Technical detailsThe full answer, in detail
The Unit (a transmitter/encoder), four internal mobile modems, the Lumbus belt pack, initial configuration, dashboard access and a 100 GB Lumbus Connect bonding allowance valid for 3 months. SIMs and Studio are optional.
Do I need a separate modem kit?
No. Niña and Pinta already have four mobile modems built in.
Do the Units record locally?
Yes, all three. They record onto a memory card as they stream, so you keep your own copy.
Technical detailsThe full answer, in detail
Yes, all three. Niña and Pinta record to a replaceable memory card while you stream or on their own — a 64 GB card is fitted as standard, and Niña takes cards up to 1 TB, subject to card compatibility. Recording time depends on your quality settings, so we don’t quote hours. Admiral comes with a 128 GB replaceable card.
Which cameras and protocols do Niña and Pinta work with?
Niña takes any camera with an HDMI output, and USB cameras such as action cameras. Pinta takes HDMI and professional SDI cameras. Cameras are not included.
Technical detailsThe full answer, in detail
Niña takes any HDMI camera and USB (UVC) cameras — action cameras, mirrorless cameras with USB video and PTZ cameras. Pinta takes 3G-SDI and HDMI. Both stream over RTMP, RTMPS, SRT, HLS, UDP-TS and RTSP. Pinta sends straight to a platform over one connection and through Lumbus Connect when you combine several; Niña goes through Lumbus Connect on every stream. Cameras are not included.
How long does the battery last?
About 4 hours on Niña, about 2 on Pinta and more than 4 on Admiral. Pinta and Admiral can also run from an external battery.
Technical detailsThe full answer, in detail
About 4 hours on Niña, about 2 hours on Pinta and more than 4 hours on Admiral, on the internal battery. Pinta and Admiral also run from an external battery. Those are the datasheet figures; real time depends on what you plug in and how hard the modems work.
How is Lumbus Connect bought, and what happens when a pack runs out?
In packs, not monthly, starting with the 100 GB in the box. You buy the next pack from your dashboard, and if one runs out mid-stream you get another 20 GB of it free, so nothing is cut off.
Technical detailsThe full answer, in detail
In packs, not monthly: every Niña and Pinta starts with a 100 GB bonding allowance valid 3 months, and you buy the next pack when you need it from Plan & add-ons in your dashboard. If a pack runs out mid-stream you get 20 GB free so you can finish and buy the next one — nothing is cut off. Your bonding allowance has its own sign-in, shown in your dashboard with where to enter it on your Unit; the balance lives with that sign-in, not in the Lumbus app.
Can I use my own SIMs?
Yes, if they work with your network and the Unit. Lumbus SIMs can also go in streaming hardware you already own.
Technical detailsThe full answer, in detail
Yes, subject to network and device compatibility. On Pinta and Admiral, one active connection needs no Lumbus Connect and several bonded do; Niña streams through Lumbus Connect whatever the count. And it works the other way round: Lumbus SIMs are fitted in a Lumbus Unit when you buy one, or delivered to you to fit in hardware you already own.
I already own a LiveU or TVU rig. Can I just buy the data?
Yes. We send Lumbus SIMs to fit in your rig. You keep paying your equipment maker for their own service that combines connections.
Technical detailsThe full answer, in detail
Yes — we deliver Lumbus SIMs to fit in your own rig, and Lumbus Studio takes any transmitter/encoder that can send SRT or RTMP. You keep paying your equipment provider for their own bonding licence: Lumbus Connect does not replace another manufacturer’s proprietary service unless we have verified that compatibility with you.
Can I use Starlink?
Yes, on its own or together with other connections. Used together, they go through Lumbus Connect.
Technical detailsThe full answer, in detail
Yes. Starlink can be used on its own or bonded with other connections. On its own it doesn’t need Lumbus Connect on Pinta and Admiral. Bonded with another connection, it does. Niña streams through Lumbus Connect on every stream, one connection or ten — the starter in the box is in use from your first stream.
How do I get the SIMs and the Connect sign-in, and add more later?
Buy a Niña or Pinta with a SIM allowance and the SIMs come fitted; your Lumbus Connect sign-in is waiting in your dashboard. Anything you add later is added there too, and we confirm the price by email first.
Technical detailsThe full answer, in detail
Buy a Niña or Pinta with a SIM allowance and the SIMs come fitted; your Lumbus Connect sign-in is shown in your dashboard with where to enter it on the Unit. Streaming on your own hardware? We deliver the SIMs to you, and the sign-in is in your dashboard the same way. Adding more — a bigger SIM allowance, a Connect pack, and with a studio also storage and the plan — happens in Plan & add-ons in your dashboard, with or without a studio; we confirm the rate by email first.
How much data does a stream use?
It depends on the picture quality you stream at. As a guide, plan on about 4.3 GB an hour for high-quality HD. The estimator on the Lumbus SIMs page works out your own figure.
Technical detailsThe full answer, in detail
Plan on your video bitrate plus about 20% for bonding overhead: that is what your connections carry and what your SIM allowance counts for the Lumbus SIMs among them. At 8 Mbps that is about 4.3 GB an hour, so 100 GB lasts around 23 hours; a poor network pushes it towards 5 GB an hour. Lumbus Connect counts differently — the stream in plus a copy out per destination — see the next answers. The estimator on the Lumbus SIMs and Lumbus Connect pages works both out.
Does bonding more connections use more data?
No. Your stream is shared out across the connections, so using more of them does not add to the total.
Technical detailsThe full answer, in detail
No. The same stream is split across whatever you bond, so two, six or twelve links carry the same total — about 4.3 GB an hour at 8 Mbps, divided between them. Weak networks and heavier redundancy settings raise usage; the number of connections by itself does not.
What counts as Lumbus Connect usage?
Your stream coming in, plus a copy going out to each place you send it. Through Lumbus Studio, all your platforms count as one.
Technical detailsThe full answer, in detail
Lumbus Connect counts what passes through it: the bonded stream coming in, plus every copy going out — each destination you send to, a live preview you keep open, and any recording you pull from the receiving service. Bonding more connections does not add to it; more destinations do. With Lumbus Studio as the destination, all your platforms count as one. For every 100 GB of bonded streaming, expect about 183 GB of Connect to one destination, 267 GB to two, 433 GB to four — or 183 GB to any number of platforms through Lumbus Studio. The bonding service’s own written definition, confirmed with you at onboarding, is the binding one.
Which Lumbus Connect pack do I need?
The estimator on the Lumbus Connect page works it out. Packs suit a trip, an event or occasional streaming; if you stream most days, Unlimited is usually cheaper.
Technical detailsThe full answer, in detail
Work it out from Connect usage, not from your SIM allowance — the estimator does it for your bitrate, hours and destinations. Packs suit setup, a trip or an event, and occasional streaming. For regular bonded streaming Unlimited is usually cheaper than packs bought several times a year, and it never runs out mid-stream. The 100 GB in the box is a starter: about 55 GB of bonded streaming to one destination.
Does Lumbus rent hardware?
Niña and Pinta are available to buy only. Admiral projects are handled privately by the sales team.
Does Lumbus manufacture all the equipment?
Lumbus designs the service and configures, manages and supports every part of it. Manufacturing, mobile networks, bonding and hosting come from specialist partners.
Why don’t you sell an unlimited SIM allowance?
Because we would be selling something we cannot buy. Allowances are bought zone by zone at a real wholesale cost, and an honest unlimited plan needs a wholesale agreement behind it. Rather than sell an “unlimited” plan and then throttle, cap or geo-restrict it in the small print, we price the allowance by the zone you actually stream in. If we get a genuine unlimited or fair-use wholesale deal, we will publish it with the terms attached.
Is the bag included?
Yes, and it never has a price. Niña and Pinta ship with the Lumbus belt pack; Admiral ships with the Lumbus backpack. Neither is a separate product, an accessory line or an upsell at checkout.
What happens when my data runs out?
You get usage alerts before the allowance is exhausted, and you can top up or move to a larger allowance. We don’t charge surprise overage fees.
Can I edit my streams afterwards?
Yes. Every recorded stream downloads as a standard video file that opens in the popular editing apps. Recordings are kept for a set time, so download the ones you want to keep.
Technical detailsThe full answer, in detail
Yes. Every recorded stream downloads as standard MP4 files that open in Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve or CapCut. Recordings are kept 14 days on Studio and 30 days on Studio Pro, so pull them down and they’re yours for good.
Will Studio ever end my stream by itself?
Lumbus never ends an active broadcast just because your connection disappears. A lost signal, a schedule, a restart of the studio software or an update never end a stream you are running — the stream ends when you end it, with a slide to confirm. What the machine cannot promise at any moment it says on your studio page, in plain words.
What happens if Studio cannot reach Lumbus?
Your machine keeps streaming, keeps switching scenes from your signal and keeps recording; only the buttons wait until Lumbus is back. If the machine restarts while Lumbus is unreachable it runs on the settings it last applied and takes the latest ones the moment Lumbus answers.
Is there a bitrate limit on what I send?
Send at the quality your connection can carry. Studio makes its own output from it, so changing the quality viewers get never restarts your stream.
Technical detailsThe full answer, in detail
Send H.264 or H.265 at the bitrate your connection carries — 4 to 8 Mbps is the usual range at 1080p60, more for 4K. Studio makes its own output from that one feed (1080p60 on Studio; 1440p60 and 4K60 on Studio Pro for YouTube and custom RTMP — Twitch, Kick and TikTok take 1080p at most), so a change of output quality never restarts anything mid-stream.
What are hours on air, and what happens when they run out?
Each Studio plan includes a number of hours on air each month. Nothing is cut off if you run out: you get a notice first, and you can add more.
Technical detailsThe full answer, in detail
Every Studio plan includes a monthly allowance of hours on air — 1,500 on Studio, 3,000 on Studio Pro. Hours on air are counted per destination: an hour sent to three platforms is three hours. Hours above 1080p count more, because they carry more video — 1440p60 counts double and 4K60 four times. Nothing is ever cut off when an allowance runs out: you get a notice at 80%, 90% and 100%, and more hours are added from Plan & add-ons. Both allowances count the calendar month and start again on the first.
Who pays for the audience on my watch page?
Your plan does: each one includes a number of viewer hours a month, and nothing is cut off if you go over. Lumbus delivers the page, so a big audience never slows your stream.
Technical detailsThe full answer, in detail
The watch page is delivered by Lumbus, not by your studio machine, so a big audience never slows your broadcast. Each plan includes viewer hours a month — 100 on Studio, 300 on Studio Pro. Viewer hours are the time people spend watching your public watch page, added up: ten people for an hour is ten viewer hours. The page is delivered by Lumbus, not by your studio machine, so a big audience never slows your broadcast. Nothing is cut off when the allowance runs out: you get a notice at 80%, 90% and 100%, and more viewer hours are added from Plan & add-ons.
Where does my studio run, and can I move it?
On its own computer online, in the part of the world you pick. You can move it between trips, and your scenes and destinations come with it.
Technical detailsThe full answer, in detail
On a private machine in the region you pick — London, Frankfurt, US East, US West, Singapore or Tokyo — so the hop to it is short. Move it between trips from Your studio; your scenes and destinations come with it. On a schedule it sleeps when you are done and wakes before you start, never while anything is streaming.
I already stream through another cloud studio. How hard is switching?
One test stream. Point your gear at your studio’s address, add your channels, test, and switch when it looks right. Your old service keeps running until you cancel it.
Technical detailsThe full answer, in detail
One test stream. Your studio has its own SRT and RTMP address from day one — point your transmitter/encoder at it, paste your channel keys, test off-air, and cut over when it looks right. Your current provider keeps running until you cancel it, so nothing goes dark.
