- Hours on air
- Hours on air are counted per destination: an hour sent to three platforms is three hours. Hours above 1080p count more, because they carry more video — 1440p60 counts double and 4K60 four times. Nothing is ever cut off when an allowance runs out: you get a notice at 80%, 90% and 100%, and more hours are added from Plan & add-ons.
- Viewer hours
- Viewer hours are the time people spend watching your public watch page, added up: ten people for an hour is ten viewer hours. The page is delivered by Lumbus, not by your studio machine, so a big audience never slows your broadcast. Nothing is cut off when the allowance runs out: you get a notice at 80%, 90% and 100%, and more viewer hours are added from Plan & add-ons.
- Recordings
- Studio recordings are kept for up to 14 days. Studio Pro recordings are kept for up to 30 days. If storage fills before the retention period ends, recording pauses until files are removed or more storage is added. The live stream continues.
- Where it runs
- On a private machine in the region you pick — London, Frankfurt, US East, US West, Singapore or Tokyo — so the hop to it is short. Move it between trips from Your studio; your scenes and destinations come with it. On a schedule it sleeps when you are done and wakes before you start, never while anything is streaming.
Questions
Do I need a Lumbus Unit to use Studio?
No. Studio takes SRT, RTMP or SRTLA from the phone app, OBS or hardware you already stream with, or you can stream straight from a browser. A Unit is optional, and neither one needs the other.
What does Studio do when my signal drops?
It shows viewers a “Be right back” screen instead of a frozen picture, and switches back to Live by itself when your signal returns. Every platform stays connected the whole time.

It watches your feed once a second. Weak for a few seconds and you get your Low bitrate scene; gone, and you get Be right back. A frozen or black picture arriving at a healthy bitrate is seen too — shown as a word, and sent to Be right back if you turn that rule on. Live comes back by itself once the signal has held for a few seconds — with a margin, so it never flaps. Viewers see a designed scene, not a frozen frame, and every platform stays connected the whole time.
